It's hard to be a Christian...

I finally understood what pastor Joseph meant when he said it's not about going to church and cell, it's about walking with Christ in your daily life that is more important. Cause even if you dutifully go for service and cell, you may not live up to what is expected of you as a Christian. Most of the time, you don't practise what you preach. No wonder it's hard for Christians to evangelise cause our actions and words don't go in line. Who are we to go out there and convince others? Sometimes, you may even initiatite some of those 'wrongful doings'. Oh well, it's hard to be a Christian isn't it?

I will learn to be strong...

If God's will is as such, then I will willingly obey. All I hope is that God will guide me through the periods of ups and downs and be with me always.

I'm a big big girl
In a big big world
It's not a big big thing if u leave me
But I do do feel
That I do do will
Miss u much
Miss u much

I can see the first leaf falling
It's all yellow and nice
It's so very cold outside
Like the way I'm feeling inside

I'm a big big girl
In a big big world
It's not a big big thing if u leave me
But I do do feel
That I do do will
Miss u much
Miss u much

Outside it's now raining
And tears are falling from my eyes
Why did it have to happen
Why did it all have to end

I'm a big big girl
In a big big world
It's not a big big thing if u leave me
But I do do feel
That I do do will
Miss u much
Miss u much

I have your arms around me
Warm like fire
But when I open my eyes
Your gone

I'm a big big girl
In a big big world
It's not a big big thing if u leave me
But I do do feel
That I do do will
Miss u much
Miss u much

Anyway, I'm still coughing like mad now, since the youth camp. It started probably on 22 Dec 2007, and now I'm still sick. It first came as a cackled voice, then phlegm, then flu, then inflamation, then with traces of blood in phlegm right before IVP. Throughout IVP was dry cough from the itch and post IVP now is back to inflamation again. When will this end man???!!! This is my 2nd dosage of antibiotics and before this I even took Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I must say that TCM was good la, but it tasted really bad. EEKS! I can still remember the taste lo :( Sigh... I haven been in the mood to do a bit of housecleaning. And since I'm so free today (cause nobody asked me out -_-), I think I should just stay at home and do some cleaning and ironing. SIAN...

My School Break Has Come To An End...

It's my first day of school today, 15 Jan 2008. Time really flies man. It's been a really interesting holiday for me, with ups and downs along the way.

IVP finally ended last Saturday, with NUS coming in overall 2nd. Though we lost the title, I didn't feel that sad after all cause I know that my team has already given its best. NUS lost to SP by a mere 3 points and we just felt a bit wasted that we lost by such a small margin.

Nonetheless, I really would like to thank jiao4 lian4 for his coaching these 3 months. Without him, I couldn't have gotten my clean sweep for 50 100 & 200m breaststroke. And NUS & SMU girls got a tie for 1st position for 4 x 50m Medley relay!!! So cool!!! Haha. Right to the very split second man... And it was funny as the NUS & SMU girls were 'fighting' to stand on the podium together. Haha!

Talking about this podium and medals issue, I suddenly remembered this incident on Saturday during the prize presentation. The NTU guys 4 by 50m free relay team was disqualified for some reason and they lost the 3rd position to NUS (4th). Of course, it came as a surprise as we didn't know that NTU got disqualified. So when they announced for the NUS team to collect their medals, my teammates were pretty hesistant as they thought the reporting table probably made a mistake. But what was super annoying was that the NTU team actually DEMANDED the bronze medals from our NUS team without clarifying first with the reporting table whether it was indeed a mistake or not. Honestly speaking, my teammates were pretty annoyed with them, and when I heard it, I felt it was really poor sportsmanship displayed by the NTU team. Whether or not it was a mistake, swimmers themselves have no right to demand for medals from other fellow swimmers! I felt it would have been more appropriate if they had sought clarification from the reporting table first, and if there was indeed a mistake, the reporting table would make an announcement apologising for the mistake and then get back the medals from the NUS team before presenting them again to the NTU team. And also, NTU has indeed been very fortunate to have Qing Xiang to anchor all their relays, resulting in their bronze medal positions (except the free relay that they got DQ for). If Fergus had been well enough to swim for us, I'm sure it would have been really exciting to watch man. Sigh... It's all over anyway, guess I should just bo chup la :)

And by the way, Danny from NYP told me to check myself out on http://redsports.sg/category/swimming/. Kekeke. So funny la, a few of us were on it too. And stupid Marcus Chua said I looked strange. Box his face!!! Kekeke. Yawn... Ok la. I think I should go sleep now since my class is at 10am later -_-

IVP 07/08

First day of IVP is finally over. Though it's my pet event, it's also my most dreaded event cause it's super super long... 200m BREAST!!! Super killer. And so I went Toa Payoh yesterday evening thinking I was only supposed to swim 200m breast. Then Dinah got injured after her 800 free and I took over as her reserve. An additional 200m free. And then I wasn't supposed to be in the mixed relay either!!! But Carson came along and told us to change those swimming in it. So end up, I sprinted a total of 200m breast and 250m free. Totally died after that. But I felt quite relieved that I didn't swim too badly for my VERY LAST IVP.

200m breast - 1st :)
200m free - 6th (CUI)
4 x 50m mixed free relay - 2nd (But I think the 1st team was disqualified cause they put in 3 guys and 1 girl. It's supposed to be MIXED. So 2 guys 2 girls...)

Well, I guess our NUS team did pretty fine for Day 1 of IVP 07/08. Feel so happy for Zhiyun for getting 3rd for 200m breast!!! :) Isabelle got 2 silvers also!!! Pro to the MAX!!! And Dinah too!!! She got 2nd for 800m free despite her injury. But I'm very sure she would have done much better than me if she had swam the 200m free yesterday as compared to this goner here in freestyle. CUI TO THE MAX. So throw face lo. Sigh. Was complaining to Kenley about it yesterday. Totally hopeless and gone case for free. SIGH... SOMEBODY PLEASE TEACH ME HOW TO SWIM FREE CAN???!!! Sad to the max.

Anyway, there's polo training tonight at Toa Payoh. It's actually a polo trial where all of us have to sprint 50m and 100m freestyle. Sai Meng wants our timings. Die for sure... Followed by passing, shooting and leg work. Pretty worried about my passing and shooting also. Totally CMI lo. Sigh... I'm bored man. I just had an interview with the NUS Bizad Club regarding my sports award in October last year. Then they took some pictures of me. Hopefully I look good man. If it's something like the posters that was all around NUS last Oct, I think I'll really jump down from five storeys. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

Ok, I'm quite hungry now. Shall go hunt for food. Kekeke :p

How I Came To Know God...

I still remember the first time I insisted da ge (Eugene Teo) to bring me to church was cause of my breakup with Kenryu. Though I was the one who initiated it, I was very sad that he was going to Australia. It was a period of depression cause I would cry alone at home, whether was it in the middle of the night or when I was bathing. And it suddenly just struck me that I needed to go to church. Sandra, my TJC best friend knew about it and brought me to her church at Anglican High School. I went there twice I think, until da ge told me that his church, Light of Christ City Church (LOC), was much nearer for me.

Then I started going to LOC and of course, it took me a very long while to grasp this whole Christianity religion. I went there on 21 Aug 2004, all the way till after A Levels, until I found my job at Euro Group, I backslided for almost 8 months. When I started school in NUS, I found out that my best friend Chau King was starting to attend church with da ge (they're a couple btw) and so it struck me that I have to seek God again. Something was just always there telling me that I have to seek God, but then, I didn't feel that I believed wholeheartedly or whatsoever. It was like grasping in the dark, and I didn't know what I was really in for. Going to service and cell did not mean anything to me. Merely ways of pleasing God, hoping that He will love me more and bless me with a better life.

Until recently, when many things have happened, I began to really feel God's presence. It's not as though I didn't feel God previously, but more of, I feel a lot more about God lately. It started when God blessed me with my NUS Sports Woman of the Year award last Oct. Then God gave me my best friends in NUS Edison and Marcus since year 1, who motivated me to study a lot last sem and gave me a CAP 4.3. Without them, I'll probably still be a goner in my studies. And then was LOC youth church camp, where I took up a leadership role and became more involved in church. Followed by my breakup with my 4th boyfriend Jian Long. It was a pretty bad breakup cause there was hatred and anger in him after the breakup which led to some difficulties in settling those breakup issues like returning of my stuff. But I guess God wants to teach me patience, and that I have to learn how to put my trust in Him. Which I did!!! And now, things are fine just the way they are.

During the 4th breakup, I was filled with anger and frustration until I was coughing with traces of blood in my phlegm. It was very annoying cause I didn't understand how anyone could just give away things that do not belong to him to Salvation Army. It speaks a lot about one's character, and it didn't help at all when he threatened to throw away other stuff that he was still holding on to and hurled vulgarities over sms-es. But thanks to my church friends like Joel, Pastor Joseph, Alan and Chau King for always being there for me. Of course, Yifen, Mary, Qian, Edison, Marcus and my whole polo team too for being so supportive of me.

Through this whole bad experience, I've learnt to put my trust in God. Even when times are bad, I've learnt to cast all my worries unto Him, and trust that He'll take care of them. I really thank God for all that He's done for me. I am happy that I had taken the initiative to go for the youth camp (though I seriously used to HATE camps) and I even agreed to Eileen's request of leading worship last Thursday. It was a nice experience opening prayer for the cell and I feel that I want to serve God even more after all these opportunities that He's given me. Now, I see myself getting more involved in church and trying hard to live my best for God. Since I'm made in the image of Him, I should try to be a living example and be a good Christian. This is my New Year Resolution and I hope I can achieve it with God's blessings!
