My School Break Has Come To An End...
It's my first day of school today, 15 Jan 2008. Time really flies man. It's been a really interesting holiday for me, with ups and downs along the way.
IVP finally ended last Saturday, with NUS coming in overall 2nd. Though we lost the title, I didn't feel that sad after all cause I know that my team has already given its best. NUS lost to SP by a mere 3 points and we just felt a bit wasted that we lost by such a small margin.
Nonetheless, I really would like to thank jiao4 lian4 for his coaching these 3 months. Without him, I couldn't have gotten my clean sweep for 50 100 & 200m breaststroke. And NUS & SMU girls got a tie for 1st position for 4 x 50m Medley relay!!! So cool!!! Haha. Right to the very split second man... And it was funny as the NUS & SMU girls were 'fighting' to stand on the podium together. Haha!
Talking about this podium and medals issue, I suddenly remembered this incident on Saturday during the prize presentation. The NTU guys 4 by 50m free relay team was disqualified for some reason and they lost the 3rd position to NUS (4th). Of course, it came as a surprise as we didn't know that NTU got disqualified. So when they announced for the NUS team to collect their medals, my teammates were pretty hesistant as they thought the reporting table probably made a mistake. But what was super annoying was that the NTU team actually DEMANDED the bronze medals from our NUS team without clarifying first with the reporting table whether it was indeed a mistake or not. Honestly speaking, my teammates were pretty annoyed with them, and when I heard it, I felt it was really poor sportsmanship displayed by the NTU team. Whether or not it was a mistake, swimmers themselves have no right to demand for medals from other fellow swimmers! I felt it would have been more appropriate if they had sought clarification from the reporting table first, and if there was indeed a mistake, the reporting table would make an announcement apologising for the mistake and then get back the medals from the NUS team before presenting them again to the NTU team. And also, NTU has indeed been very fortunate to have Qing Xiang to anchor all their relays, resulting in their bronze medal positions (except the free relay that they got DQ for). If Fergus had been well enough to swim for us, I'm sure it would have been really exciting to watch man. Sigh... It's all over anyway, guess I should just bo chup la :)
And by the way, Danny from NYP told me to check myself out on http://redsports.sg/category/swimming/. Kekeke. So funny la, a few of us were on it too. And stupid Marcus Chua said I looked strange. Box his face!!! Kekeke. Yawn... Ok la. I think I should go sleep now since my class is at 10am later -_-
